MEET OUR PRESENTERS
RADIO DJ AND REMIXER
Steve Evans has been involved in the Music Industry for over 30 years, working on local & national radio stations and remix/production for major record labels worldwide, building up a large portfolio, which includes solo production on numerous number 1 UK Chart Hits.
He has produced remixes both as a ghost writer and under his own name since the late 90's, but has been involved in radio since the age of 17, and currently producing high listening figures on shows for a number of large radio stations.
As well as still creating remixes as a freelance artist, Steve has produced a host of non stop mixes for Hits Gold and presents our popular Golden Hour on Sunday evenings
Starting his career aged just thirteen, it was only a short while before Geoff became established as one of the Mecca Group's top three DJs, seeing him open new venues worldwide. He compared the second ever gig by Led Zeppelin and early shows with Fleetwood Mac.
Geoff can be heard on Hits Gold every Sunday from 2pm with his three shows covering the best music decades - 60's, 70's and 80's
Tom grew up in Boston, USA, and his first taste in radio was at Boston's Northeastern University at WRBB (Radio Back Bay). His passion for all the great music from the 1950's through today is evident from his vast music collection.
He loves playing both the popular, as well as the obscure songs on Motown Memories, which you can hear every Saturday at 2 PM on Hits Gold
Paul is an award winning comedy family entertainer, specialising in magic and comedy entertainment, and is often seen at functions up and down the country.
When Paul is not on stage, and being a 70’s baby, he has a love for music, especially the 80’s, which saw him DJ'ing in some of the biggest clubs in Essex and London, with a 4yr Residency at Club Eden.
Although Paul has now retired from commercially playing his love for this era on the clubscene, the music has never gone away, and he will host an 80’s Chart Show here on Hits Gold every Saturday at 5pm
Listening to, and playing music has always been a large part of Ady's life. Ady bought his first vinyl in 1974 aged 7, by 1983 I was immersed in the UK scooter scene and began attending the rallies which boasted ex-Wigan Casino DJs on their all-nighter line-up.
"There was so much music that I hadn’t heard before and of course, as there was a record bar in each venue, my record collection increased although never as much as my wants list. I really get a kick out of sharing my passion for music and have enjoyed playing my 70s soul, funk and disco records to the world ever since!"
Glyn’s career as a DJ started at 7 years of age on his brother’s mobile disco. From 13 he was working in night clubs and in 1994 started the 9th RSL Community radio station in the UK ‘Valley Radio’ before becoming sales director for Amber Sound FM.
During his 4 years at Amber Sound FM he presented The Breakfast Show, Drive Time and his favourite show The Soul Show which started in 1994.
In 1997 Glyn began the ‘Soultastic’ Soul Club based at Alfreton Leisure Centre in Derbyshire UK attracting up to 800 soul lovers every month at the regular monthly soul nights.
Glyn’s taste is very wide and with a huge collection of both northern soul and more modern tunes. Silky Soul is broadcast every Sunday evening on Hits Gold
My passion for music drew its first breath when Radio Rentals took our TV away. I was 10 years old. Not being one who waits to be entertained, and being of a curious nature, I decided to explore my mother's vast record collection, the bulk of which represented the genres of folk and country. But, hidden in its depths were some real sonic treasures. After a short search, I unearthed Bob Marley’s Burning and the Wailers albums, Donny Hathaway’s Extension Of a Man, and the complete works of Ray Charles and Millie Jackson. This was truly my Eureka moment! Now I had a new passion, now I could see a path before me, one that I would follow from that day forth. Paper-round money was now being used to service a new addiction — a new hunger.
No longer would I be visiting the local toyshop to buy yet another Airfix Spitfire (1:72 scale) to cover in inappropriately-applied glue. No, from now on, it was now the racks of vinyl in my local record stores that beckoned me with their seductive contents. Aylesbury's Record House, Earth Records and Our Price were my after-school haunts. Even now I can still recall, as if it were yesterday, the alluring scent of clean, fresh vinyl that permeated these (what were in my mind) palaces, these shrines dedicated to music, sanctuaries where I could escape from the world and be Me.
The Grundig radiogram, my then pride and joy, with the glow of its valves radiating evocatively through the louvered vents of the rear cover, would now be pumped to the max, and my my bedroom window would be wide open. This was the life, sharing the music I loved with the kids playing outside my house, while Mother would scream her own chorus of disapproval, "NEIL! TURN DOWN THE BASS!”.
I knew it in my heart, my blood, my soul, I wanted to be a DJ.
So now you know a little more about me from my perspective. In the eyes of others I've been described as (amongst other things that I think I'll keep to myself!) charmingly and uniquely amusing, but I will let you, my beautiful listeners, be my judge…
I look forward to playing my music for YOU
I live in London, and am a lifelong musician having picked up the guitar at 12 years old. I love all types of music and have played in many different types of bands from blues to dance to jazz to folk. I'm still playing in bands and love every minute of it.
I have a special love of the Blues and sharing that love with people on the radio is a real privilege.
My love of all music comes across in my show at the ‘Joker in the Pack’ slot where I play a tune that is not necessarily Blues but one I really love.
